History

To stay competitive in today’s world of mass communication, you need satellite communication technology solutions that are individually tailored to suit your needs - its something that we have learned over the years.

NewSat Limited has evolved to become Australia’s largest independently operated Satellite Communications Company. Our head office is located in Melbourne, Australia – with major facilities in Perth and Adelaide, Australia.

The key milestone event in the development of NewSat occurred in 2005 as the company acquired the Adelaide and Perth teleports from SES Newskies Satellites. These assets have strengthened the NewSat global strategy, to provide government, corporations and private enterprise with access to an increasingly large and diverse range of satellites.

Over the years, NewSat has developed a world-renowned reputation for providing a full range of managed satellite communication services including Telemetry Tracking & Control (TT&C) and Carrier Service Monitoring (CSM) ‑ from its Teleports in Perth and Adelaide, Australia. Today, NewSat has the ability to reach 75% of the globe including: Australia, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, across the Indian Ocean extending into Europe and across the Pacific Ocean, reaching into the West Coast of the USA.

NewSat has also met stringent requirements to gain ‘Endorsed Supplier’ status, from the Australian Government, which certifies that we are commercially viable to deal with tenders under the specified quality threshold.

In future years the company intends to launch Australia’s first non-foreign owned satellite to be named Jabiru-1. For the first time in Australian history, NewSat is working to launch its very own commercial satellite that will fly in a GEO-stationary orbit. Jabiru-1 will give our partners even greater coverage, options and higher network speeds.

The following timeline summarises the evolution of NewSat Limited as an emerging growth satellite service company.
